His sister and friend Lydie were kicking his butt in bike speed. Noah on last year's sad little bike with it's small wheels just couldn't cut it next to the girl's big wheels racing down the street. Oh it made him mad and he was begging for a new bike.<br />
<br />
Check him out now.<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">Our friends Sergio and Cindy offered up Sergio's personal vintage BMX bike for Noah to love and enjoy. When they gave it to us, I had no idea of the "old school BMX" LOVE out there in the world (we are now converts!). When I returned home and checked out Sergio's bike online, I was floored. What a gem Noah has been given, and how generous of our friends to share this treasure with him. Sergio rode this bike back in 1977 in Miami, FL as a child. I simply must see photos, and hear more history. This bike will be with us for generations, I can promise you that. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

It's a magical Tom Sawyer world where any kid (or kid-at-heart) can wander the shores in search of buried treasure. Peaceful and calm, there are no boats, no other people, no development at all. When you are quiet, it is quiet, although you may hear the soft hum of dragonfly wings, the splash of jumping mullet, or the distant cry of an osprey overhead.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZreuuEWGz0LbgfAv_B3tK_Irdr5chqg87Cel1myRjvdgAouXBCEebngDv6RlrxPzBQx7xNG4JmBLS8IRrGOvwbANBATfhsXaiSSXDDb2ci9NtoVpGJSU_xbcFHZaEmExLesNtJPisSZM/s1600/IMG_1954.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZreuuEWGz0LbgfAv_B3tK_Irdr5chqg87Cel1myRjvdgAouXBCEebngDv6RlrxPzBQx7xNG4JmBLS8IRrGOvwbANBATfhsXaiSSXDDb2ci9NtoVpGJSU_xbcFHZaEmExLesNtJPisSZM/s400/IMG_1954.jpg" width="225" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">As we were driving away from home on the way to our beach, we spotted a yard sale table and stopped to check it out. We ended up finding a bargain and the perfect treasure, which the kids called "the best toy in the world:" a vintage wooden Star Yacht, "guaranteed to sail." It has a metal rudder and adjustable cloth sails.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4k1vAK6Z29qqtsHM3-qWViAf-pbkQtFGNHkucX3n-RmbQDzmdxrOaoH40HDkmHkZIrPeawSnHipuIpHeBgdRXPuJqHjcfPkKS-OpgIqm_b9A5QpEqo1ZJF7iJEhgx59Mg8ZlEVpCM8aw/s1600/IMG_1908.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjR-yPNEth3OfXoU8u_RE-UJKr6unx1wJ_7zCVntdf8_7cb2j456nWgKVxzWmC4VpUxzym6kZU9CO969x0HpgBGS-Cuqwc5LwphRo7OXqGkePH_P5D3qg9Cs546jZ8dQvkVMziFnWJfKMo/s1600/IMG_1921.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="281" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjR-yPNEth3OfXoU8u_RE-UJKr6unx1wJ_7zCVntdf8_7cb2j456nWgKVxzWmC4VpUxzym6kZU9CO969x0HpgBGS-Cuqwc5LwphRo7OXqGkePH_P5D3qg9Cs546jZ8dQvkVMziFnWJfKMo/s400/IMG_1921.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The kids had a wonderful time sailing the little boat, and yes, it did sail quite well in the winds over the sound. It turned itself and found the wind, and sent the kids chasing after it lest it sail straight out to the ocean all on it's own.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The kids love the Woodpecker Beach because they can play and swim in the calm waters without worrying about rough waves or currents. The water of the Sound is shallow far from shore, so the older, better swimmers can venture farther out. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">After swimming and snacking we all get the itch for an adventure and walk along the shoreline to see what we can find. There's all kinds of things to navigate around, over and under: fallen trees, cypress stumps, tall grasses. We keep on the lookout for crabs, turtles, osprey, eagles, animal tracks and whatever else we might find washed up along the untouched shoreline. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">Last September we were reading Laura Ingalls Wilder's "Little House" books, which gave us the idea to plant a bed of winter wheat in the raised bed we had recently harvested our purple sweet potatoes out of (ever the farmer!). We thought it would be wonderful to look out the window in mid-winter to see a perpetual patch of cheery green when most everything is dreary brown and grey. Then in spring, we would harvest the wheat and make bread from our harvest. So one afternoon we broadcasted wheat seeds upon the ground and turned them under with a steel rake. The kids had a great time keeping the seed from blowing out of the bed into the grass while fighting strong winds, and a few days later we were watching our sprouts popping up, in clumps and smatterings, evidence of our well-intended by ineffective planting prowess. Oh well, it would do...and it did.</div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

We decided to beat the wheat heads on the porch because I had saved the drying wheat just that morning from a rain. Also, the wandering Khaki Campbell duck troop were climbing up on the stacks and helping themselves, I really don't mind sharing but I just didn't want duck feet trouncing my wheat, or pooping all over it, so as usual the animals spurred me to action. Once the wheat was on the porch, well, it had to dealt with, right? So we got busy, with each child having a chance to thresh. It was fun to work together creating a beat and a rhythm like drumming. While much of the wheat ended up in the tote, an equal amount amount went pinging off in every direction. As much as I would like, Laura Ingalls Wilder I am not! No matter! </tbody></table><div style="text-align: justify;">We made pancakes from fresh ground wheat from plants we grew ourselves, and we have enough leftover to make a loaf of bread. The kids had a blast and learned a lot from this experience-- farming, self-sufficiency, motivation, cooperation,biology, ecology, entomology, seasonal rhythms, resourcefulness, process, timing, patience, and how to make a pancake! It was difficult work however and I don't plan to ever do it again! This really makes me appreciate a bag of flour. I currently buy King Arthur brand flour and have since decided to buy organic winter wheat in bulk and grind it ourselves with an electric grinder. Spending $4 on a 5 lb bag of King Arthur now seems like a steal! You just don't realize how much work goes into something until you experience it for yourself. This started as a homeschooling lesson for the kids, but of course, I learned a lot myself. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

I started this blog in 2007 and have not entered a post since 2009! whoops! I find it inspiring however to read shared information in the Waldorf community, so I thought it would be a good idea to get this blog going again, to get involved in sharing as well, for my own sake (keeping track of our days) but also to connect to other like-minded community from way out here where we live. <div><br /></div><div>To kick of the re-boot of this blog, I'd like to pay-it-forward with a big show of gratitude to the Waldorf, Facebook and Etsy community for showing support of my fledgling business, The Violet Sparrow ( www.thevioletsparrow.etsy.com) . I started my shop in August, 2010, and have had some wonderful success so far, which I truly appreciate! My passion is for recycled natural materials, doing good for the earth and creating for children. My shop is stocked with Waldorf-inspired goods from gnome playsets to slippers-I have so many ideas and am looking forward to stocking-and-restocking the shop and doing farmers markets in the spring and summer 2011. </div><div><br /></div><div>And so, without further ado...a Christmas giveaway, to be given away on Christmas morning! The slippers will be completed and shipped to you just after the New Year.</div><div><br /></div><div>Because this is a giveaway for The Violet Sparrow's Facebook fans, you must "like" the Violet Sparrow's page in order to enter, and then make a comment in the CHRISTMAS GIVEAWAY post there. On Dec 25 my children will pull one lucky winner's name out of a hat and we will communicate with the winner on Facebook. Please search for The Violet Sparrow on Facebook, or cut and paste the following into your browser:</div><div><br /></div><div>http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Violet-Sparrow/154060464617522 </div><div><br /></div><div>****For a second chance to win, please share my giveaway information on your blog as well, and let me know in your comment that you have done so.****</div><div><br /></div><div>And that's it! One winner will have a new pair of custom upcycled slippers made for their child, age range from 0-4 years (up to about a size 12 toddler). Custom design and color scheme includes one of the themes pictured above: doggies, kitties, birds or bunnies, and color preference is dependent on what wool I have in stock. I will work with you to create a pair of slippers your child will love and which will keep him or her warm on these cold cold winter days! Merry Christmas!</div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5538334329281693210.post-23975485758392581742009-10-12T09:14:00.000-07:002009-10-12T09:42:02.274-07:00Knighted by the Queen<div>We went to the Renaissance Faire at a local Park yesterday. The kids made hobby horses and raced before the queen. Afterward Ami was knighted by the queen, "the Countess of Columbia," while Noah and Eden were too scared to go near her. We also learned about spinning wool and tailoring, and we saw a puppet show. We went for a picnic on a boardwalk overlooking the Sound and then we went inside to the museum where the kids dressed up like children of colonial times. Topped off the day with a visit to a local pizzeria where we had a yummy dinner--we were the only people in the place so the kids could play and carry on without disturbing anyone.</div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_e5WSEc7OkNixaQx_rYDhO1qw2xzecX36nfBoxMeXAO_fCxTr1uBZ7kKQlCU86vngsd3dlyn3KlT4nhfJHOUA-J2j8e5TKH56V1w8WTywQsjqACACkPsCZ1wq7lUB7WCTfKMg_tmnCtA/s1600-h/100_6148.JPG"><img style="cursor:pointer; Jane called him up to the stage during her lecture to mention a few things about the wolves and to howl for the audience. I didn't get a pic of that because he had the camera in his pocket! After the lecture we went to the Museum of the American Indian for lunch, then back to the LOC to meet with Jane. We met on the steps of the LOC with the Capitol building as a backdrop, it was beautiful. Ami got to give Jane her chimp fund money, which she raised by selling bookmarks to family and friends. The money will go to help the orphan chimps who's mothers were killed for the bushmeat trade. She gave Jane a bookmark, and so did Noah. Noah also made her a picture of a ladybug climbing a rainbow. Then we went over Amelie's chimp lapbook which we made as a school project last year. It has a section about Jane Goodall which Jane signed for her. It also has a little collapsible box which has holes and is filled with velcro "termites"--you fish for the termites with pipe cleaners. Jane fished for termites with Ami and pretended to eat them--made us all laugh. She gave us two books--the one Chris is in, signed, and another one for the kids, and a poster, all signed, as well as a little chimp doll, which the kids share. I made a red wolf wall-hanging (appliqued) for her, which she really liked. She expressed an interest in having photos of the lapbook as an educational tool example, and said she'd have to wait for Chris to sign *her* book when she comes to visit the wolf project in the spring of 2010 (fingers crossed!).</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5538334329281693210.post-80489527506082389362009-07-13T19:33:00.000-07:002009-07-13T20:18:18.065-07:00It's been 6 months!<div>So, our photo program stopped functioning and I couldnt resize photos. We can't seem to get wildblue to respond to our requests for a hookup, so we are in this annoying quandry. The kids had a great time running around the lawn at the outdoor twiligt concert. On the last song they invited all the kids up on stage to play instruments and dance. The performers were all taken with Eden, who happily poked around on stage like she owned the show, dancing and jumping and showing off in her own little world. She was the youngest one up there and was very happy to have joined her siblings who were also one stage (although she paid no attention to them). I was very proud of Ami for jumping up and getting right out there, being adventurous, seems the shyness is slowly working itself out. They all did great.<br /></div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEia75TgKM-Dd2eKdBmxFK_5jNsuTLBd94BFHOhGIElCK4Lc_b8YKBy10zv7n-7po8rtRqlYPlOkJfNmlJFEg3T39ieOXnAXvmWYoz8PxZfBYGKxvvG00Mv2eyLbtr4twEZFrVKLXB5kJwU/s1600-h/blog7july.jpg"><img style="WIDTH: 215px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358147316840536882" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEia75TgKM-Dd2eKdBmxFK_5jNsuTLBd94BFHOhGIElCK4Lc_b8YKBy10zv7n-7po8rtRqlYPlOkJfNmlJFEg3T39ieOXnAXvmWYoz8PxZfBYGKxvvG00Mv2eyLbtr4twEZFrVKLXB5kJwU/s320/blog7july.jpg" /></a> </div><div>Just a recent photo, from the Ugandan concert night.<br /></div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCJuOD_Q5ik_d0Obmqnc78vEwHvP9MbZ0_fXNNfW9SIWrf3x6S4KORZy3k_zDgdpk6bsXzbeoNFoP1rDBQqnq7aanEqQU6zx1w2mdLAqnf4mjt9NlsRBpp5ktmH8L3-v2lxPw93b_0smI/s1600-h/blog2july.jpg"><img style="WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 222px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358149115834467426" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCJuOD_Q5ik_d0Obmqnc78vEwHvP9MbZ0_fXNNfW9SIWrf3x6S4KORZy3k_zDgdpk6bsXzbeoNFoP1rDBQqnq7aanEqQU6zx1w2mdLAqnf4mjt9NlsRBpp5ktmH8L3-v2lxPw93b_0smI/s320/blog2july.jpg" /></a></div><div>All of us.</div><div> </div><div>Check back for more to come....Love, A,C,A,N & ER</div></div></div></div></div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5538334329281693210.post-78803929280113781962009-01-21T19:04:00.000-08:002009-01-21T20:11:53.648-08:00We had 2 new goats and now we have 4!We had 4 goats a while back, but sadly had to return them to thier<br />owner/breeder because they had a troublesome virus. We purchased these two saanens dairy goats, Viola and Pan, from a nearby breeder in Virginia. Viola is 10 months old, and came to us pregnant; Pan came along for the ride because Viola needed a friend to keep her company. Pan is a wether (a fixed male). We love him, but his purpose is mostly to keep Viola company.<br />He sure can jump a fence--I am talking 5-6 foot high! He stays in only because he isn't happy about our dog Mia patrolling the fenceline (she wouldnt hurt him) and he wants to stay with Viola, who wants nothing to do with fence-jumping. <br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhO3T7IYzvRtyU_RViv5BWpDJvkDljxf-T9odrMX2eAXOgsy9CJTjXbvqCO2VwZET-y_vM0LflA3n0NaGsvfUcsPIl74WoSIxQUyQ_w3BnLXRipwXsNyGLWb9bQTDM6WmCVGMP-LBy4j24/s1600-h/kgoats.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5293959660938059986" style="WIDTH: 255px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhO3T7IYzvRtyU_RViv5BWpDJvkDljxf-T9odrMX2eAXOgsy9CJTjXbvqCO2VwZET-y_vM0LflA3n0NaGsvfUcsPIl74WoSIxQUyQ_w3BnLXRipwXsNyGLWb9bQTDM6WmCVGMP-LBy4j24/s320/kgoats.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />Pan and Viola staying out of the weather. Once she figured out she could do it, she practiced diligently. She didn't seem to like the idea of crawling anymore and gave it up completely within a couple of weeks when she started hoofin it full time. She's still a bit wobbly but that doesn't stop her from running around the house. Yes, you read that right...running. And dancing. oh she likes to dance...she has her own dance. It's a bopp bopp up and down, stamp stamp your feet, turn a circle backwards round and round while watching your feet go, on earm up and one arm down. Every time she hears music or singing, off she goes into that dance of hers. Its the cutest thing. </div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5538334329281693210.post-43171408594148869642008-11-30T13:29:00.000-08:002008-11-30T13:38:46.661-08:00Eden is ONE YEAR old!<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7UNnk9wMUmtcq-Fa9BqqX6hXh9D9KPMBGzijtzIpzQqjCUr6yUOusxMK4ihp0p6RAjyImyTEprP8605AyGei24h_WNejr_SKxD8EO-n5rq8PUBgr7xz7XMtThdz2ZzOhw6O7WbpqRlGM/s1600-h/novblog24.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5274568102592740802" style="WIDTH: 152px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 216px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7UNnk9wMUmtcq-Fa9BqqX6hXh9D9KPMBGzijtzIpzQqjCUr6yUOusxMK4ihp0p6RAjyImyTEprP8605AyGei24h_WNejr_SKxD8EO-n5rq8PUBgr7xz7XMtThdz2ZzOhw6O7WbpqRlGM/s320/novblog24.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTtfV3w1f66TsDlMtOTXhO9tBIh2zly1qJ53B-f_5gNXmnz1oh3WBgRm7_f2JVbXhBhr5jkCRB5lX4qBVopuKbhcXrGPEb25mX18ZpNSzBGlBZ2dnDHcGh3kqbsivmHTdiufRMYETEwAA/s1600-h/novblog23.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5274567886671021106" style="WIDTH: 180px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 214px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTtfV3w1f66TsDlMtOTXhO9tBIh2zly1qJ53B-f_5gNXmnz1oh3WBgRm7_f2JVbXhBhr5jkCRB5lX4qBVopuKbhcXrGPEb25mX18ZpNSzBGlBZ2dnDHcGh3kqbsivmHTdiufRMYETEwAA/s320/novblog23.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhryKviN0bAzaBc88IL09k4a4PQ5bOCLXFUoNdcwj2DyqDzeRe0MWgSt9M2LgxuDSQCvFCJ8c0QV-s7Jr_m-hhdQ94WWbU7cfXVWLNz4bSBhCs3N776NA9qibexIiB9naNUjGDTbCc0SB0/s1600-h/novblog22.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5274567453592041026" style="WIDTH: 288px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 190px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhryKviN0bAzaBc88IL09k4a4PQ5bOCLXFUoNdcwj2DyqDzeRe0MWgSt9M2LgxuDSQCvFCJ8c0QV-s7Jr_m-hhdQ94WWbU7cfXVWLNz4bSBhCs3N776NA9qibexIiB9naNUjGDTbCc0SB0/s320/novblog22.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>I don't know how it happened, but it did. Thank goodness Chris and I have two awesome helpers around here. We had a small party, mostly for Ami and Noah (and thier friends), they were looking forward to cupcakes of course. We decorated and sang and Eden got one big pink Dora rubber ball from us and clothes from family (which she needed! Thank you!). She's mostly too little to notice her b-day and hardly knew what to do with her cupcake! She mostly just smashed it up and played with it. </div></div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5538334329281693210.post-41108298423615353112008-11-30T13:24:00.000-08:002008-11-30T13:29:36.493-08:00In the Kitchen with Daddy<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLrZTtB80QA1ENJVHIMZjEdhkR5ql8N9p0ygiGSDOZAVzmBKM9SpCLEluvik49H1cOs4lHeRPM0tnnFuZUoS0RkDX8MGvLDnWCjciLjrPBx00bjl6xVY1C0LfC7lHICB8z31GsDEKJXtQ/s1600-h/novblog21.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5274565833417876018" style="WIDTH: 180px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 143px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLrZTtB80QA1ENJVHIMZjEdhkR5ql8N9p0ygiGSDOZAVzmBKM9SpCLEluvik49H1cOs4lHeRPM0tnnFuZUoS0RkDX8MGvLDnWCjciLjrPBx00bjl6xVY1C0LfC7lHICB8z31GsDEKJXtQ/s320/novblog21.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>Noah likes helping in the kitchen. Here he is helping Chris prepare venison jerky marinade. Chris has been emptying out the freezer of uneaten deer meat from last year, making room for this year's supply. He has shot one doe so far and will keep going out til the end of the year to get 1-2 more for the freezer. When Noah isn't helping his dad in the kitchen, he's helping me. His favorite thing is to punch sweet potato rounds out of rolled dough using a glass and arrange the on a cookie sheet. </div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5538334329281693210.post-30026518459564084262008-11-30T13:19:00.000-08:002008-11-30T13:23:42.380-08:00Curlie Girlie<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqEooU5qVAxjecM4GuTgoHe7oyJat3OPsZDLjktpiUYZ3OnSmbj3femtnnBo9RKy9_aPioVYWTcBWf3ig8BCW5TrzZ9yeWDDCcfckuNx9DSc5OewqeaG8MPt89sIa-COcNxxi0O4NJ6Cs/s1600-h/novblog26.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5274564191558300450" style="WIDTH: 180px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 265px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqEooU5qVAxjecM4GuTgoHe7oyJat3OPsZDLjktpiUYZ3OnSmbj3femtnnBo9RKy9_aPioVYWTcBWf3ig8BCW5TrzZ9yeWDDCcfckuNx9DSc5OewqeaG8MPt89sIa-COcNxxi0O4NJ6Cs/s320/novblog26.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8Jgq4sc1eYC4CjqcRIqJy_1hyphenhyphenZzPm1QQQp5n2MAjiYfb5aSwN1QnVI2ZmdcZdV-MFWJeL7n-KkqFuf1cuov9PdEs726ONXWojX2k0JBvtBsLMpqQFZie7viRq12nkZHLKXYLi77MY4AI/s1600-h/novblog25.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5274563766573559170" style="WIDTH: 180px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 228px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8Jgq4sc1eYC4CjqcRIqJy_1hyphenhyphenZzPm1QQQp5n2MAjiYfb5aSwN1QnVI2ZmdcZdV-MFWJeL7n-KkqFuf1cuov9PdEs726ONXWojX2k0JBvtBsLMpqQFZie7viRq12nkZHLKXYLi77MY4AI/s320/novblog25.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>Check out the smile and the curls. Big wet sticky flakes. The kids got up out of bed, got dressed and ran out in it. It didn't stick much to the ground, but about 1/4" ended up on our porch, some of which ended up as snowballs. We don't get snow mauch around here and we aren't much prepared for winter, we could only find 3 mittens, so Noah had to wear a sock on his hand! Needless to say, the kids were pretty much freezing by the time they came in and they warmed up with hot chocolate (double dose of mini-marshmellows of course). Next time I went out I bought new gloves/hats, etc (now it probably won't ever snow again!)</div><br /><div></div><br /><div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5538334329281693210.post-27508581702710406782008-11-30T13:09:00.000-08:002008-11-30T13:12:08.784-08:00Big Bwutha...<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdbqwKIzInBboL98PwYJcyhFiU44wriX8YlOTROwhOPqO29VM2OKnX4tvH8JlRhuXN3yVvcQne-gktaQem9ldsfYxUlc6hkX-DIhl9kwg6ztdivfv_bWtnLsVNTbNpptRHVIxVDuQAnrI/s1600-h/novblog18.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5274561266539740146" style="WIDTH: 180px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 242px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdbqwKIzInBboL98PwYJcyhFiU44wriX8YlOTROwhOPqO29VM2OKnX4tvH8JlRhuXN3yVvcQne-gktaQem9ldsfYxUlc6hkX-DIhl9kwg6ztdivfv_bWtnLsVNTbNpptRHVIxVDuQAnrI/s320/novblog18.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>...loves his baby sister. We hope to make it an annual tradition.</div></div></div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5538334329281693210.post-17800503739573415562008-11-30T12:31:00.000-08:002008-11-30T12:34:04.978-08:00Tickee tickee tickee!<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEircXdzsOOFju3uqZoRmIjwhN_Ti3iyIVoE1VdSrU3PUU6z4X7e989szyJc1ipKYentRe6A2VHXmGHzN7LeuFey4rO5pMV1pkxcY9tPi7PxeNI0c_EWYqUagCqTzI5wLSN2PqljfDk5UO4/s1600-h/novblog9.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5274551501325738402" style="WIDTH: 216px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 194px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEircXdzsOOFju3uqZoRmIjwhN_Ti3iyIVoE1VdSrU3PUU6z4X7e989szyJc1ipKYentRe6A2VHXmGHzN7LeuFey4rO5pMV1pkxcY9tPi7PxeNI0c_EWYqUagCqTzI5wLSN2PqljfDk5UO4/s320/novblog9.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>Just a cute giggle pic.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5538334329281693210.post-21557492852046520402008-11-30T12:15:00.000-08:002008-11-30T12:31:12.705-08:00BLUE Carolina!<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWF0x6qXdBzkmHv7bSXr7U4opJeR1yRD5EOfyTcfIseYQMMXOPQYLq4wm4PGHogbRhKqfBHsnDqp_BoTVpmuBrlRVwLUfN9SvzripUN7zorCB8Ad_0fs3bA4FHYf6D_t3vveZZaZ6GN98/s1600-h/novblog8.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5274549604316000210" style="WIDTH: 180px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 297px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWF0x6qXdBzkmHv7bSXr7U4opJeR1yRD5EOfyTcfIseYQMMXOPQYLq4wm4PGHogbRhKqfBHsnDqp_BoTVpmuBrlRVwLUfN9SvzripUN7zorCB8Ad_0fs3bA4FHYf6D_t3vveZZaZ6GN98/s320/novblog8.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>We are happy to be living in a BLUE state! Amelie learned about voting and elections this year, and also learned about the history of slavery in this country, and what a great moment in American life this is for everyone. She also learned where Texas is and that GWB is going back there! The kids helped us put up this sign, and were as irritated as we were when someone tore it down--straight off our own private fence along the highway! We promptly reinstalled another one which we rigged to appear electrified! Crazy times in rural NC, yep.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5538334329281693210.post-19176171317307113632008-11-30T12:06:00.000-08:002008-11-30T12:14:56.326-08:00Off We Go<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgw83Ekx_Lcsw3ebd2IND2YTyCiC0T0Dapcyr9XINSESB1pAOfep1zGCVhsSLkeiAJQlNxUuV240HhfpOvAjRptp4eTz_uvjXEGnxo29ETK2nPFNRQBjUaB5wWQVdsn0tdDQJ3xofT3ndo/s1600-h/novblog5.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5274546222904658706" style="WIDTH: 180px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 294px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgw83Ekx_Lcsw3ebd2IND2YTyCiC0T0Dapcyr9XINSESB1pAOfep1zGCVhsSLkeiAJQlNxUuV240HhfpOvAjRptp4eTz_uvjXEGnxo29ETK2nPFNRQBjUaB5wWQVdsn0tdDQJ3xofT3ndo/s320/novblog5.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb1UKeOAjxKgaJEefgrPdlW9v9PkPbwzWSiKLavoROuWFUqK4EznadPitisYugsuEG6Z0IMB_bMNAMuDNbkHqhXJJEHdbqcx4O5ekWRRpx-RC5eSPtKzyHlGbFk5BumFH4jTjNUeZGB6Q/s1600-h/novblog2.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5274545882541041330" style="WIDTH: 180px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb1UKeOAjxKgaJEefgrPdlW9v9PkPbwzWSiKLavoROuWFUqK4EznadPitisYugsuEG6Z0IMB_bMNAMuDNbkHqhXJJEHdbqcx4O5ekWRRpx-RC5eSPtKzyHlGbFk5BumFH4jTjNUeZGB6Q/s320/novblog2.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div>Before and during a late-summer bike ride.</div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5538334329281693210.post-85492516561236819302008-11-30T11:50:00.000-08:002008-11-30T11:54:49.296-08:00Jeepers creepers...<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKja8KT4X31By81xMFA9tvsE1WwdMDZdKF0B8HOFTbzbAQjUN8AOlByLY1tYH-yLplftSKC09Cfhl4Mb_9OgEic7IFzBSri6aTkCFZPq9oUC5kVTGnzAv_gY7oY-79tTcnOj7jsY2oDLU/s1600-h/novblog4.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5274540764788801586" style="WIDTH: 180px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 261px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKja8KT4X31By81xMFA9tvsE1WwdMDZdKF0B8HOFTbzbAQjUN8AOlByLY1tYH-yLplftSKC09Cfhl4Mb_9OgEic7IFzBSri6aTkCFZPq9oUC5kVTGnzAv_gY7oY-79tTcnOj7jsY2oDLU/s320/novblog4.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>....where'd ya get those eyes?</div><div>(<em>I know Noah looks a bit spacey wild in this pic but I cant get over how big and blue his eyes are.)</em></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5538334329281693210.post-77711157684621682882008-11-30T11:39:00.000-08:002008-11-30T11:50:04.385-08:00We love our Winnie<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYxmRpqEKnHhFenKP3DbrZHK1n-yBimRYyN8MrqF4n6Poxfmrc-_3C61Nbr98p_8xbWhAuPPzft83-zah4poJbfX2CdOgtryYFS9XJd6-OjSSmEvYztnGk_sCaMfMWqd2pbGTivA58zIg/s1600-h/donk1.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5274540095789398610" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 254px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYxmRpqEKnHhFenKP3DbrZHK1n-yBimRYyN8MrqF4n6Poxfmrc-_3C61Nbr98p_8xbWhAuPPzft83-zah4poJbfX2CdOgtryYFS9XJd6-OjSSmEvYztnGk_sCaMfMWqd2pbGTivA58zIg/s320/donk1.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><div>We got Winnie in early October. She's an 18 month old standard sized donkey, came to us untrained but very sweet. She now leads with a halter/rope and picks up her feet for cleaning and the farrier. She is what we call a "pocket donkey" because she is always right up your tail looking for affection or treats. Donkeys are guard animals, we thought she could guard our goats from predators/wild dogs. Well, she seemed to want to kill the goats! But I think with time she will mellow out and accept them. She is with the horses right now and will be a companion animal for our younger horse when the old one dies (likely soon). Winnie is named after my great grandmother Winifred who was riding an English beach donkey down the dunes when she fell off into the sand, embarrassing my Nana who was about 10 years old at the time! </div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5538334329281693210.post-74551169397956494532008-11-30T11:28:00.000-08:002008-11-30T11:38:40.170-08:00Grammy comes to town<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5ZL3dMbDj81Rg-DrzHNluaxUxGo77Bg8o6GIiFfGz_R7mHGglvhHBlktJc7ibe43z0t_PYXZp6P2x8VtLz94dXgE_CDBHUnNcj838l8iRK4OpgyetYLLaQXLFXaNpUk85eVBK0Vpu03M/s1600-h/novblog7.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5274537138988219042" style="WIDTH: 216px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 201px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5ZL3dMbDj81Rg-DrzHNluaxUxGo77Bg8o6GIiFfGz_R7mHGglvhHBlktJc7ibe43z0t_PYXZp6P2x8VtLz94dXgE_CDBHUnNcj838l8iRK4OpgyetYLLaQXLFXaNpUk85eVBK0Vpu03M/s320/novblog7.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>Grammy and Grandpa Bill came to stay when Eden was 10 months old. They came to hang out and see if they could find a place to live. They found a great little townhouse overlooking the waters of Edenton Bay, within walking distance of downtown Edenton, which is about 30 minutes away from our house. We are so excited that they will be moving here and look forward to thier arrival in early March 2009! </div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5538334329281693210.post-5420478477086696922008-11-30T11:22:00.000-08:002008-11-30T11:27:33.038-08:00She loves to swing<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGWj7io3AEZDcBBA4H21gEh4UK2oNa-ZSg4SUW-hKevJpgWwAsHxiD28wDPWlgHhvq_92Xew7Cciz5TBILDAaLyLTei5NOeSFde-fms6KcAGmV8QiCAxQR_6rp7veAv0p4_LddY7iDMOg/s1600-h/novblog6.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5274534027672005794" style="WIDTH: 180px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 215px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGWj7io3AEZDcBBA4H21gEh4UK2oNa-ZSg4SUW-hKevJpgWwAsHxiD28wDPWlgHhvq_92Xew7Cciz5TBILDAaLyLTei5NOeSFde-fms6KcAGmV8QiCAxQR_6rp7veAv0p4_LddY7iDMOg/s320/novblog6.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>Eden River in the swing at the park in Edenton a couple of months ago (Sept--10 mos).</div><br /><div></div><br /><div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
